The challenge

How can data prevent falls in senior homes and drive positive operational and financial outcomes?

The cost of falls in senior care is expected to reach $65 billion annually. Falls aren’t only costly but also extremely impactful on the overall health of the aging population. Retirement communities and home care providers are constantly looking for ways to evaluate mitigation strategies and drive better outcomes by reducing falls and proactively prevent them all together. The power to solve this problem lives in the data.

The WildFig solution

Our team has tackled this problem across the entire analytics continuum through a custom lens. Most notably we have developed:

  • Custom dashboards to visualize data around falls
  • Intervention reporting and tracking
  • Root cause analysis around previous fall behaviors and outcomes
  • Predictive models around falls to support population health management
  • A consulting and data-driven framework for healthcare providers to apply to their ongoing workflows around causal impact, benchmarking and intervention strategies

These efforts, in one community instance, have resulted in a 6% reduction in falls, a 10% reduction in fall severity, 39% reduction in hospital visits.
